MIS DISPLAY
GARDENS
The Median Iris
Society has 59 member gardens participating in the MIS Display
Garden network for 2007. There are ten new gardens that have been
added since the last report. We are glad to add gardens in
the states of Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska
and Pennsylvania. There are many areas where there are NO
Display Gardens and we urge you to look at the list and see if
you could be a representative for public view of our wonderful
median class of irises.

The
rules for participation as a MIS Display Garden are simple:
¨You
need to be a member of the Median Iris Society .
¨You
need to be growing a “representative number” of medians,
preferably in all 4 classes.
¨You
need to make your garden available for viewing by those with an
interest in median irises during your bloom season.
¨Complete
and mail (or e-mail) in an annual report, which primarily involves
identifying those in each class which you thought were noteworthy
in your garden this season.
To
be an MIS Display Garden you do NOT have to:
¨Be
an AIS Judge.
¨Buy
every new median introduced every year.
¨Buy
or lease another acre of land to accommodate your median collection.
¨Accept
guest plants from hybridizers for display, if you have limited
space but guesting median iris can be a wonderful adventure.
We need to continue
our hard work of recruiting new MIS Display Garden members. If
you see a garden that looks like a good addition, ask if they would
be interested. They may be waiting to be asked. I
hope we can add gardens yearly. If we make it the goal, we
can make it happen.
With the unusual
spring for many of our gardens, the reports this year may point
out those plants that can handle adverse conditions. I am
looking forward to working with all of you as your new Display
Garden Chairman.
