REQUEST FOR MEDIAN IRIS GUESTS
2011 MEDIAN IRIS CONVENTION
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA
The Oklahoma Iris Society (OIS) will host a median convention April 14-16, 2011 in Oklahoma City. There will be five (5) gardens on tour for this event. Hybridizers are invited to send guest rhizomes of recent introductions and seedlings under consideration for introduction. Please observe the following guidelines when sending guest irises:
- Hybridizers may send up to three (3) rhizomes of each variety. There is no limit on the number of varieties/seedlings that may be sent.
- Guest irises will be accepted from July 13 through September 18, 2009.
- Ship guest irises to:
Louise Carson, Guest Iris Chair
5037 NW 24th Place
Oklahoma City, OK 73127
Phone: (405) 947-1710
E-Mail Address: nloucar@earthlink.net
- The name of the variety, or seedling number, should be clearly marked on each rhizome. In addition, the following information should accompany each plant on a separate packing list:
- Hybridizer’s name and address, telephone number, and e-mail address
- Name or seedling number of the variety
- *Type of iris (e.g., MTB, BB, IB, SDB)
- Height and brief description
- Year of introduction (if introduced)
- If available, a photo or digital image of the iris bloom would be helpful.
*NOTE: Although a median convention, we welcome guest plants of MDBs, Arilbreds, and Arilbred-Medians, as we anticipate bloom in these classifications during this convention also.
- If a guest seedling is named, it will be the responsibility of the hybridizer to notify the Guest Iris Chair no later than December 1, 2010, so that garden markers can be updated and the convention booklet will be accurate.
- A receipt will be mailed to all contributors. Shortly before the convention, contributors will be asked for instructions regarding the disposition and distribution of the guest plants. Failure to reply by June 15, 2011, will be interpreted as permission to destroy all seedlings and distribute named varieties at the discretion of OIS. All official guest plants will be returned freight paid, except for foreign addresses.
- The Convention Committee and the owners of tour gardens will strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics as printed in the American Iris Society (AIS) Convention Handbook.
- The Guest Iris Committee will not be responsible for losses beyond its control.
